Good morning world! Or afternoon or evening depending on when you are reading this!

This week I am headed to a photography conference in Arizona for 6 days. I booked this trip over the summer when my friend Megan at Let It Be photography in Cape May asked me to.  It really was that simple.  She asked if I wanted to and I think I booked within 24 hours. This summer was so busy for me.  I had 60 beach sessions from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  That doesn’t include weddings, life, marketing, branding, managing social media, consults, contracts, editing, previews, blogs and all the other things I do as a small business owner.  At the time I booked United (that’s the name of the conference!) my soul needed a boost.  I needed  something fresh and new.

Fast forward a few months and I am actually feeling rejuvenated and ready to tackle this conference.  There dozens of classes to choose from, networking events and styled shoots and classes I signed up for on top of all that. It’s going to be overwhelming in the best way possible and I am ready.  I don’t often talk about my life or my past, I don’t enjoy spending time in that headspace.  I have grown leaps and bounds in the past five years especially.  After my divorce I spent 3 hours a day in self care for months.  Yup, 3 hours a day.  I had just made the move to a full time photographer and moved into my own apartment.  I promised myself I was going to get my soul right.  I made mistakes in that time but I also made so much personal growth.  I had a life/business coach that helped me define my world better.  I read. I did yoga. I went to therapy. (side note: every person in the world should go to therapy at different stages in life.  It’s amazing) I took care of myself.

Fast forward a few years and I am sticking to some things I learned in that time but not others.  One specific area is work/life balance and maintaining excitement for everyday life.  Most people don’t get excited for their everyday lives.  I do.  Well, I usually do. When I get this buys I let my self sacre and excitement fall to the side. On most days I am grateful I can walk into Target, Shoprite or TJ Max and purchase anything I choose.  I am grateful I have a truck I love to drive me there.  I am grateful I have a career I am passionate about.  I am grateful to be my own boss. I am grateful I have a doctor who has helped me dodge two major bullets in life over the last few years. I am grateful I have health insurance and don’t mind paying the bills that my amazing Doctor sends out, I have my health and a wonderful job that allow me to do so.  This is all above and beyond the gratitude I have for friends, family, Tucker, Dylan.  The things I mentioned are things many don’t appreciate and get excited for every day. I want to keep my soul right and that excitement alive.

I am excited to kick my business into the next gear and fill my soul at the same time.  I am so excited to learn and grow more.  I am excited for United to help me continue to live the life I once imagined. I am pumped to come back from this work trip with a happy soul and excited mind ready to try new things behind the camera and at my desk behind the scenes.

Cheers to stepping out of my comfort zone, cacti and desert, bettering myself, my life and my service to my clients! South Jersey Photograp

Happy November!  Thank you for reading todays blog about a Batsto Engagement session!

Several months ago I met Amanda and Ed when we had a consultation about their Ashford Estate Wedding. I think we spent more time laughing, talking about all things random and realizing all friends we had in common.  Amanda knew she wanted fall for her engagement session. Batsto, the weather and the fall foliage did not disappoint! Their son, “wardo” (ok that’s not his name but it was his dad’s nickname as a kid and I think its great he calls him that!) was all smiles and may have been flirting with me a little.  Actually, I think that handsome little guy flirts with all the ladies!

For our Batsto engagement session we spent time walking around, chatting, and keeping things simple.  Amanda and Ed were so easy going and laid back. The session went smoothly and I love the results!

Thank you for reading today’s blog about a South Jersey Family Photographer session!

Today is all about the man, they myth, the legend – the Fletcher!  I was so excited to get this adorable little guy in front of my camera this week.  That smile is INFECTIOUS!  Looking at that big ole’ grin has to make you smile from ear to ear.  He was sweet and full of giggles once we got him going.  Lucky for me he responded really well to me making an incredibly high pitched squeal and saying (actually screeching) “There he is!”.  Unlucky for his poor parents who had to hear me say it a thousand times.  It’s amazing what we do to get kids to smile!

I have worked with Fletcher’s momma in the wedding industry for several years.  His parents came to our session calm and ready for whatever happened.  That is always the best energy for parents to have.  When you come to a session expecting reality beautiful things happen.  As you scroll below you will see the silhouette-esk photo of this beautiful family.  That is reality.  That is just a sweet moment between them and it’s perfect in my eyes.  Having expectations of everything being pinterest perfect is not reality, especially when dealing with toddlers.  When mom and dad are calm, cool and collected the session will flow with ease and yield amazing results.

The weather for our session was looking blah, then suddenly mother nature decided to come out of her funky mood and gave us a beautiful and vibrant sunset.  Normally my photos at sunset involve lighting set ups.  Lights and little bambinos don’t always get along. I decided to wing it with no lights and roll with what was happening.  I am so glad I did. I love all of the sunset images from this session!

Thank you for reading today’s blog about Beach Haven LBI Wedding at the Sea Shell Resort!

Liz and Josh had an amazing wedding on LBI!  The couple found a way to merge wedding traditions with their own personal and untraditional flow! There were so many beautiful and little unique details during their day.  It truly infused their personalities into the day!  The bride and groom meet across the street from the Shell at another wedding so the Shell was the PERFECT spot for them!

The day began with the bride getting ready at Lavish Salon in Beach Haven. The girls and her amazing mom, Claire Pat, finished getting ready at the Sea Shell’s hotel.  The boys, (who let’s be honest have it easiest on the wedding day!) relaxed and hung at the hotel while the girls got all dolled up! Liz wore a beautiful gown with delicate lace from David’s bridal. Her girls wore unique dresses from cocomelody.com in swedish blue ombre.  After Claire Pat made a beautiful toast to the girls we headed out with the couple to share their first look.  Liz and Josh were so easy to photograph, they are so natural and sweet together.

Their beach ceremony began and Molly the pup joined in the fun… however when I tried to pick her up and bring her back to Jaimee from the Shell she barked mid ceremony at me.  A lot. I couldn’t help but laugh, and luckily friends and family did also!

As the party got started the newlyweds danced to Michael Franti-Life is Better With You. The crowd tossed tiny, tie dye beach balls at them, in a loving and fun energy way!  The bride’s father, Big Jim, passed recently. There were many small memories of him woven into the day. His photo on her flowers, a cigar station with his cigars, and most importantly all his life long friends wore his favorite, hawaiian shirts. These small nods to Jim were beautiful. As Liz should have danced with her father on her wedding day, the DJ played “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” by the Beach Boys (Jim’s favorite) and each of his friends took a few moments to dance with his little girl. By time her brother came up at the end, the entire room was filled with an amazing energy and those “I love what’s happening but my heart is breaking for you” tears. I don’t cry much at weddings but I couldn’t stop for 10 minutes after. The staff at the Shell, the guests, we were all moved.

Liz and Josh – It was an absolute pleasure to work with you.  I hope Ireland and your happily ever after are all you dreamed of!

Thank you for reading today’s blog about a Parkers Garage Wedding LBI!

Melissa and Matt were a dream to work with.  They were sweet as can be and their friends and family were equally amazing!  The day started at the bride’s family beach house.  Melissa opted to have just one person in her wedding party but to have all her besties there with her as she got ready.  This is a growing trend and I think it’s amazing!  The bride still gets to feel all the love and support of her friends but there is no muss, fuss or stress on the wedding day! The groom and his friends got ready at the beautiful Daddy’Os hotel.

Melissa’s energy was infectious all day.  She was so fun to be around!  After the ceremony the bride and groom ended up hopping in my truck while their friends and family took the party bus and I asked was kind of music she wanted.  When she replied gangsta’ rap, I knew we were meant to be friends.  We bumped some Biggie and headed to the tranquil bay for photos.  The perfect mix in my world!

The bride wore a stunning Maggie Sottero gown in the design style Winnifred.  The gown was adorned with scalloped lace and a beautiful neckline. The handsome groom wore a suit from Princeton Tuxedos. Their amazing venue, Parkers Garage did NOT disappoint with its stellar food and amazing open air concept. Their first dance was to Better Together by Jack Johnson.  The florals were stunning and perfection from Reynolds. The Ryba’s opted for a strawberry shortcake for their wedding cake.

The day had perfect weather and an amazing couple.  I am so lucky I was able to be apart of it!
